ABOUT
Hi I’m Charlotte / @cmuins / 梅傲雪, a painter, archive-worker, and witch. I also like to write.
Born in Hong Kong in 1996, Charlotte Mui is an emerging artist working mainly in watercolours and digital. Her work often reflects her own experiences, visions, and dreams while drawing inspiration from mythologies, art history, theatre, magic and home. After a decade of painting competitively, Mui continues to search for her own voice and mode of expression.
In 2021, she published her first deck of Tarot cards, “L’Œil de L’Âme Tarot”, which was recently collected by Tate Library in the UK. In 2022, Mui held a sold-out gallery solo exhibition at Alisan Fine Arts with her series of surrealist watercolour and mixed media paintings, as a visual archive and exploration of local Hong Kong home cuisines. She also published her second divination deck “The Gwai Lenormand” that same year.
Mui did not receive formal art training and instead studied English and Art History at the University of Hong Kong, obtaining her BA in 2018. In 2023, she relocated to London and currently works at iniva as Assistant Librarian.
